The WINKID project with the University of M&uumlnster, the University Medicine of Essen Department for Medical Microbiology and Ridom aims to improve phenotype prediction for antibiotic resistance based on complete bacterial genome sequences.

 EFRE WINKID team

Project aims

Growing restistance to antibiotics threatens to reduce the effectiveness of modern medicine. Personalized antibiotics therapy based on the minimal inhibitory concentration (MIC) reduces the spread of antibiotic resistance. The current, phenotype driven tests for determining the MIC are too slow. Genom based approaches are faster.

WIN-KID combines the expertise of our Partners in microbiology, shotgun genomics, machine learning and bioinformatics to generate MIC predictions based on genome data.
